Longbow limbs on Hoyt Horizon for hunting?
« on: January 19, 2011, 05:33:00 PM »
Hi, I’m looking to build an ILF hunting rig and I am looking at the Hoyt Horizon as a good candidate for this project.  I think the riser in blackout would be just about ideal.  I have a few questions regarding this as the lady at Hoyt helped with most of my questions (is it machined aluminum- “yes”, is it made in the U.S.A.?- “yes”, will it handle 50# limbs@28” without losing stability- “yes”).  But I didn’t want to waste her time asking project specific questions.  My main question is, has anyone tried using ILF longbow limbs on a Horizon riser?  I love longbows for hunting and this bow will be used for just that purpose.  I have found references through the search function to doing so by altering ILF limbs to fit a Dorado but I would sooner start out with an ILF riser to begin with.  Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
