On the list for a new Shrew
« on: January 22, 2011, 12:23:00 PM »
I talked to Ron this morning and told him my deposit is in the mail for a new Shrew. Now the wait begins.I'll be going down to the Kalamazoo show to try out a few to help with my decision.I did own a Classic hunter in the past and only had it for a short time.Had to sell due to furnace trouble that year.Times are better and thought I deserved a new toy.

David,

I remember you having to sell your Classic Hunter quickly to pay for a furnace. I still have it and it is a great shooter. You do deserve a new one. I can tell you that there have been many new options that have been developed since your bow was made that Ron and Gregg have probably told you about. You and I discussed all the changes you made last time while waiting on your bow. Who knows if you will end up doing that again. I would suggest that since you are going for a new bow and will be waiting about a year and a half to get it that you just order it with all the latest options. Although each individual new feature did not make a huge difference in the bow, the combination of all of them has resulted in a bow that is very significantly superior to the CH you had before. As Jeff Berberick said when he shot my CH last year at the Solana Ranch hunt, "This is not your father's Shrew." Jeff has a way with words. You are going to love your new Shrew, but it is going to be a long wait!

Order one then forget about it....

Other wise you will end up in a padded room in 14 months  :)

I owned an original shrew in the early 90's when you could walk into Ron's shop (as I did) and grab one off the wall. They were good bows then, exceptional now! Congrats!

David ,

When I first talked to Ron I was going to order just the standard Shrew , but After talking with Ron a while I went ahead and ordered the carbon and the foam core limbs ,It just made sense .And I went with the classic hunter because it's in between a longbow and a recurve .And Ron is pretty smart ,I told them my draw is 29" ,And he knows as you get older and sometimes a little weaker it shrinks ,I just checked my draw and it's only 28.5 So I will probably change my order to 28 "

I wish there was a way to see all the woods that Ron has to make the decision on the riser. I think I'm gonna go with curly birch for the limbs overlay. But like everyone else says

"The wait Begins"
