Carbon arrow spine ?
« on: January 22, 2011, 03:47:00 PM »
Just wondering if I could get some input here. I have been shooting Beman ICS Bowhunters in a 340 and they fly and shoot great was just looking for an heavier arrow so I bought some CX Piledrivers they too have a 340 spine however they dont fly as well as the Bemans do. The outside temp around here has been about Zero so I have been doing my shooting indoors at about 12 yds. but from what I can see it looks like the CX want more tip weight( up to 300 gn  now and its getting better) The bemans shoot fine with 200 gn. Anybody else see a differencs in like spines between manufacturers. Thanks for any help John

Even when I buy the same spine,I'll bareshaft tune them even if they are the same manufacturer. You have the same spine but two different manufacturers, maybe thats the difference.Maybe they are not exactly the same spine, maybe it's because one is a heavier gpi.

the cx Piledriver 350 is 10.4 gpi while the Beman is 9.3

the spine of the piledriver is .345 or converted to AMO about 91.3.  Could not find the actual spine for Beman

Ever think of the fact that since it's zero, you have more clothes on and can't draw the bow back as far so you might need a weaker arrow.
