North Carolina Hogs?
« on: January 23, 2011, 07:23:00 PM »
My nephew just graduated with his degree in Plastics Engineering/Rubber Technology and took his first job in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It's a big move for this Michigan boy and we're very proud of him. Now that I have a home base in the south, what are the hog opportunities around Fayetteville? He's a compound shooter that I've been trying to get into to traditional archery and reading all the hog posts on Trad Gang, hogs might be just the ticket. Not to mention the fact that I'd like to do a little hog hunting myself. Sounds like these critters are just made to be hunted with a stickbow. Would love to hear you hog hunters input.

There seems to be some in Eastern NC but hard to come by. Might want to head a little further south into SC for some good action.

Just checked it out and it looks like he's 230 miles from Ray Hammonds Hog Heaven. Couldn't think of a better place to start on the pigs.

As a fellow transplanted Michigander, welcome to your nephew to the Fayetteville area.

I can't really help you with the hog hunting since the referenced thread is pretty accurate for the Fayetteville area, hogs in the area, but no public access.

Slightly off topic, he can still enjoying shooting his bow.  Nearby Fayetteville in Hope Mills is the Rockfish Bowhunters Club (outdoor range) that welcomes both traditional and wheel shooters, and if he'd like target shooting there is an indoor league year-around at the Fayetteville Gander Mountain range.

Thanks. Ray Hammonds it is. I just have to get the kid to "shake" his wallet a little bit. He's been living on macaroni and cheese and ramin noodles for the last four years. I don't think he'll know what to do now that he has a real job   :)
