String question for Bear Montana owners
« on: January 24, 2011, 11:59:00 PM »
I've got my first longbow on it's way to my house.  It's an excellent shape used 2009 Bear Montana 64 inches.  It has the original string on it and I want to get Josh (oliverstacy) going on a new string for it.  I was told that these brace best at 7 3/4 to 8 inches.  I'm going to get a D-97 string for it, do I need an actual length 61 inch string?    Thanks

Yes, you need a string 61" in length. I like the brace height closer to 7.5" but you'll have to shoot it and tweak it to your preference. I typically like to operate on the lower range of brace height.

That brace height is kind of high for a mild R/D bow,I braced mine just under 7" and shot great for me.
