Help with Hogs.....
« on: January 25, 2011, 07:11:00 PM »
I see alot here on TradGang, that people get to hunt hogs alot and in many different places.  That is something I have never been able to do so far.....and most know,  there are no hogs around here in Massachusetts.   In poking around for all of 5 minutes or so,  I found one site where they claimed "Texas is OVER-RUN with HOGS!" and they were having some 2 for the price of 1 hunt package on wild hogs....and the prices seemed to be cheap!  Started at 300 I think?Anyway,   I want to ask....are there really places like this that are truely teaming with hogs so badly that ranch and land owners are practicaly begging you to comd hunt them?  Wild hogs that are just going crazy and need to be thinned....nothing in any type of fence!  Asided from that aspect,  where is just a genuinely great place to go hunt hogs where it is affordable and an overall great experience? Something I could squeeze in with the other trips and tags I have to account for throughout the year.  This is something I would like to do in the not too distant future....maybe in the mid-late spring,  summer,  early fall!?  Any info or insight would be great!  I know with all the people I see here hunting them,  someones gotta know somethin'!  Looks like TONS of fun!  Spot and stalk .....Im all about it!  :saywhat:

They say hogs are all over and out of hand, But here in Wharton County where there should be 100's of them I don't see any alive or dead...

But if You want to hunt Tejas  PM/Email CK of 7th Age Bowhunters or Ray Hammond for the East Coast. I have never hunt with either one, But I want to and I have never heard of anyone NOT Having the time of their lives hunting with them..

I'd stick with some one like CK a 7th Age.  Someone who is a trad hunter and has a trad set up.

I can guarantee our area is overrun w/hogs. But, I haven't seen one in 3 years. Just because they're here doesn't mean you'll see any much less get a shot. The thick woods are jammed w/undergrowth. You can't go anywhere you don't see huge hog sign w/tilled ground. Talking w/game warden just a week ago & he confirmed these facts plus said they are mostly nocturnal. No baiting in the Forest nor use of dogs. Harder than you might think.
