The main difference is the elites are machined from a single piece of steel. The originals have the blades brazed on. I shot animals with both and you cant go wrong either way. I prefer the elites because I used steel inserts with the old ones. Both are very easy to sharpen to shaving.

I think the elites are 1 1/8" and woodsman 1"
shoot straight shoot often

None of the animals I have shot with the reg. woodsmans would have been any more dead! I just got another dozen off a guy moving up to the new high priced ones. I know the new ones are tougher, heavier, and probably a better head all the way around, but I dont foresee 90% of the trad hunters I know ever needing anything more, to be  honest. Get'em sharp, put it where it counts with enough weight, and get the skillet ready.

I think the originals have spawned a whole new scheme of "like" heads. I just opened a pack of originals and they are silent in flight so will stick with em. May get some of Gurus special order 1.25" terminators though.

Performance?????? sharp and in the right spot most any head will lead dead critters. It is more a personal choice.

the elite heads are also harder than the originals, 50rc versus 44rc.
as mentioned you can't go wrong either way!

Both are excellent heads.  I have not tried the new ones...because I have always felt that old ones were more than adequate.  U cant go wrong either way.
