Jerry Hill Longbows?

Anybody hav any experience of Jerry Hill longbows?

I've been offered a 69" Elite Plus longbow, 73#@28" I'm told it has carbon core limbs (dubious for the price)

I was wondering; How they shoot, are they FF safe & what's the handshock like?

I've never shot a straight limbed bow before & it looks like it may kick quite hard, with it's short riser...

Jerry is Howard Hill's grand-nephew.  Don't know for sure, but I think he's gotten out of the bow business.

I had a JH Wildcat deluxe a few years ago. It was a very pretty and well constructed bow.

It did have quite a bit more handshock than any of my Howard Hill longbows.

My JH looked brand new and came with a JH bow sock. I paid $200 delivered and sold it on an auction site for $260. Just as an example of prices.

My experience is the same as Franks. Looked nice but had loads more handshock than a Howard Hill longbow.

Yep, most of them will jar your teeth out from my experience.

I shoot a wildcat delux and yes they can be tough on the hand, but I actually put mini SIMS vibration reduces on it and it helped alot. I think they were actually made for quivers or something but they do the trick. I put them where the fades met the limbs and it made the hand shock tolerable.

hey rob i had a jhill apache long bow they shoot good but had a lot of hand shock hence why i sold it. but dont let that put ya off.

I had A Wild Cat Deluxe model that was 70Lbs @28" and it had terrible handshock.

I cut my teeth shooting Jerrys bows. Guess thats why I have a couple of caps.! Jerry is not making bows at the present.

Lots of handshock from the Wildcat I had owned.  Never had handshock problems with any of the HH bows built by Craig or Sunset Hill bows either.

First longbow I ever shot was a Jerry Hill, that back in the eighties, told myself that if that was what shootin a longbow was all about I wanted nothing to do with it. My bow arm would go numb from the handshock. Glad I found it didn't have to be that way.

I have had 2 Jerry hill long bows one was my first trad bow at 55# and the other I won at a shoot at 50# and they are beatiful bows but I wouldn't put a FF string on one if you do pad the loops with dacron. My first bow was a real shooter if you could handle the handshock in fact if I was doing my job that bow would outshoot anything I own to this day but it wasn't fun shooting it. When I won the other I tried again to reduce the shock from changing strings, using mutiple silencers, limb savers, and using heavy arrows, when nothing worked I sold it to a friend who needed a bow but didn't have a lot of money I gave him a good deal and he was fully aware of the handshock but he still shoots it and very well so I say it depends on how sensitive you are to hand shock Delin

Hmmmmmmmmm. Unless I can get it for absolutely nothing, it sounds like it'll be staying exactly where it is! Doesn't sound like a popular bow & I'm always one for bowing to advice!
