Most of the camping at Compton's is essentially in a large field. Bring the tent and sleeping gear. Shade is sometimes a good thing so if you have some sort of nylon tarp or similar, bring it. We are all camped kinda together, so you will likely have neighbors. In the past, it has always been orderly and nice. I am impressed by how well everyone gets along and respects each other. Bring a shovel if you want a fire (to dig in a pit and bury it later). There are currently restrictions in several states regarding bringing in firewood. As I recall, the boy scouts or another group have fire wood there for sale. There is a kitchen on site that makes a decent breakfast buffet each morning for a decent price. Friday evening is a free chili (and some other things) feed for all. Saturday night is another dinner that is cooked on site. That one is extra (but worth it) and you can eat there or cook your own at your tent. If you want to eat the saturday dinner, please RSVP by e-mailing (see Compton web-site for instructions) We typically eat both dinners and breakfasts at the site and bring lunch and snacks for food items. Remember the chili cook off if you are so inclined. It was fun my first year. Plopped my chili pot on the table, turned to my left to introduce myself to the guy next to me and he stuck out his hand and said (Hi, my name is Fred (Asbell). There are a TON of folks there and it is surprisingly orderly and nice. I will be there with my crew. Maybe see you there.
