It takes some practice to be able to peel them consistently without breaking the feather. Wild turkey feathers are the hardest of all but it's pretty easy with a little practice, especially with Trueflight feathers. Pinch the feathers real tightly and make sure you're not bending the white base.
You can see in the video that I don't actually pull on the quills, but I instead pull on the base of the feather. I have more control this way and much better results. It's a small nuance that I have found works well for me, but not a necessity. Keep practicing you'll get it.
