Stumping, 3-D, quiver

I am wanting to get a quiver for stumping, and 3-D shooting.I would not be doing competition shoots, just shooting for fun and practice.  I think I would like a back quiver but I am unsure. I looked at some Neet hip quivers today that were made from a nylon material. I also looked at a couple of Leather back quivers that were a hole lot nicer looking. Does anyone have any input.

I just got one of the Safari Tuff Arrowmaster quivers and have just used it for some of our club shoots and I think it works great. Big Jim's Bow Company has a similar style in leather and both are site sponsors to boot.

While many folks like back quivers, I've tried them but found them heavy and awkward.  My preferred quiver has become an extra deep hip quiver I made myself... fun project, not difficult, and it's always neat to use stuff you made yourself.

I just copied a standard belt on hip sheath quiver, but I wanted the arrows a bit deeper than they usually offer.  Pattern and instructions are on my site:   www.dickwightman.com    Just click on "Archery Activities" and scroll down to "Making a Simple Arm Guard and Quiver".  Even throws in a nice knife sheath.

If you shoot in open timber areas back quivers work great.  If you have to duck under a lot of stuff then back quivers are a pain.

I've used both a hip and a back quiver for roaming. I find the hip quiver to be cooler in summer and just more convenient for me.

I just bought one of Big Jim's Buffalo Quivers....great hip quiver....heavy leather and good design with pocket for roving/3D...room enough for 18 wood arrows.  This quiver should last the rest of my life.

I prefer a side or hip quiver. Both are out of the way and easy to access. They also hold lots of arrows, I lose a few sometimes.

Just ONE quiver won't be enough... All types have good and (bad?) points. For 3D with field points a back quiver is fine. Stumping with Judos may need an open side hip quiver so not to pull three arrows out at once. But then you can stump shoot with Hex Heads and use a back quiver anyway.......  :rolleyes:

I've got lots of different quivers and enjoy them all!

I also have one of Big Jim's buffalo hip quivers. It is a work of art and serves me well on the 3D ranges.

I bought a leather back quiver from Lon that works on the premise of the safari tough.  Top load with bottom arrow removal.  Wouldn't hunt with if but I love it for 3d shooting.  I use my bow quiver for stump shooting.

I really like my Jack Bowers side quiver for everything.  I have used back, hip, side, plains style, bow, belt and pocket and of them all I like the side quiver the best (followed by a bow quiver).

I tried my Back Quiver for 3 D. Everytime I needed to go under a limb, I got snagged. Or, if I bent way over something the arrows fell out. I use a hip quiver or a side stalker quiver.

However, half the guys use a leather back pocket quiver.

The best shooter I know, Bisch here on TG, just sticks five arrows in his right front jeans' pocket. He only uses one arrow, don't know why he carries the other 4.

When I practice and go to 3D shoots, my bows are set up as a hunting rig - and I hunt with a bow quiver.  3Ds are practice for hunting, and I want conditions as close as possible as to what will carry into the woods.

 I am new to leather working and do not want to try and wing it. Plus I have a white tail hide i want to use as an outter layer and do not want to mess it up.

Cedar Ridge make a fine hip quiver.  I love mine for 3-d and practice.  I can't stand anything on my back in 90 degree heat.
