Looking for a pattern and a build along to cover a 3 arrow Kwikee Kwiver with leather. Any one have some info on this? Or, a resource that can cover one.

Just the hood right? That should'nt be too hard. If I were to do that, I would use paper to make a pattern. Then cut the leather to match the pattern. Rough up the plastic hood on the quiver with 40 grit paper, clean that real well. Then Barge cement the leather onto the hood. Sounds simple anyway.

The best way to make a pattern of an irregular or rounded shaped object is cover it with layers of masking tape.Lay it on in pieces till the surface is covered. Then lay out your cut lines so that when you make your cuts,it can lay as close to flat as possible.Check out other quiver designs to get an idea.
You can make it one piece or two or more.Use a baseball stitch to sew it back together.Deerskin or elkskin may be the most forgiving leather for such applications because of the stretch.
Use a waterbase glue to help slide it around to take the shape and work wrinkles out.Let some hang out over the rim till it dries and then trim that off.

I made the masking tape pattern, decided where to divide it and used two different color leathers. The leather was sewn first, into a pouch, glue applied, then pulled over the hood and wrinkles worked out.Let dry then trimmed.I didn't use the baseball stitch but you can get an idea.

I heard the the formula of Barge Cement had been changed and doesn't hold as well as the old formula. (The new package is blue, I think the old one was yellow.)
Would Gorilla Glue work well to hold the leather onto the Kwikee cover? Or some other glue, epoxy?
The leather covers look great!
Thanks,
Yeoman

I wouldn't want to use gorilla glue. The new Barge cement should work.Epoxy might but I'm not sure of the type plastic in those hoods. It wouldn't be a bad idea to rough it up with coarse sandpaper before gluing.Don't get glue on the outside of the leather.
