"Foot travel only"...three of my favorite words!

National Forest in the N.E. lower penninsula of Michigan. I took this buck on October 30th this past fall.

My twelve yr old son was in a ground blind when this buck walked by about twenty five yards from him, and proceeded to work two scrapes. Beyond the range of his recurve, he could only watch. (Good boy Nick...great job by KNOWING your limits and keeping within them. I am proud of you!)

The buck then turned and walked right to me, and I killed him at five yards.

Public land has been good to me. I put in the effort, and I have always been rewarded.

Kahn's boy shot a heck of a buck for the area they were hunting. TONS of pressure in there and definitely not a "let that one walk" buck! Kudo's to Dylan for sure!

Also, those sure are some handsome Blacktails and Mule deer bucks!  :clapper:

Oh yeah, don't want to leave out the does some of you guys shot. They can be smarter than any old buck!

Vtmtnman that buck had some kind of infection in the antler petiole (sp?). There was a 1" point at the base, and the beam wrapped around the ear. The other side was a normal antler with 3 points. Shot on Halloween morning, liver and lung about 20 yrds. He jumped up when hit, then just stood there and finally fell over.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Charlie I wasn't implying before he should have. What I ment was there's a lot of buck in OH like that. There's like 3 in VT.   :help:

I actually got lectured by a guy that owned the store outside of the state park were we were staying about ruinning OH's credibility by shooting small buck.I had just told him I missed a 4pt the other day.He says "You vermonters come here and shoot everything."Was VERY hard to bite my tounge...not sure why I did but I did.I think the dude was drunk not real sure though.

I just like getting deer, what can I say.     :wavey:

I would think with all those mountains there would be at least a few studs in Vermont! YOu all are welcome to hunt with us this next fall though, plenty of room for everyone.

Great deer to all!!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

There are...trust me.They are legends..."Oh I seen that one big 8 out in the field one night down to so and so's" Big 8-10 here means maybe 100"-110".

They need at least 5 years to get there. And by then they are so wise they become virtually unkillable during bow season.(Our season runs from first sat of Oct to the last sun of Oct,so some years you may catch a few days of pre rut)Rifle is when our good bucks are taken because that is nov.Grossly unfair and I've made it a personal goal to get our season extended.

Thanks for the offer Charlie,I seen your guys' thread last year.Greg was pretty pumped to hunt out there with you guys.I may get out there some day to hunt with you guys. We're off to PA this year for a deer/bear hunt in Potter county.
