field tips for cane arrows...

I'm putting together some cane shafts to shoot out of my BBO and was wondering what type of field tips work well. I've made some blunts out of rifle casings, but I need something to use for target shooting. I was thinking of inserting a nail and brazing some brass on the point and shaping it.
I've also thought about gluing in an insert, tapering it and using some 5/16" tapered field tips.
What do ya'll use?

Go get yourself a box of duplex nails. Grind the top head off and into a point. Drill out your cane shafts to fit and glue the nail in the shaft. After trying these I'll never, ever attempt to taper a cane shaft again.
Oh yeah, be sure you wrap something around the shaft to keep it from splitting.

What I've seen were "footed" with a piece of wood shafting and a regular glue-on point was used. Also works for glue-on broadheads.

I use glue-on points. If you're careful with your tapering tool, you don't even need a dowel in the hole. Try to get a size that will slide over the shaft a little, so that it will reinforce the shaft at that point.

I taper on a disk sander. Just spin against the disk agains wood clamped at right angle.

Iadd a small wood dowel, then taper like any wood shaft. Add a brass glue on field point.
I like 'em!
