Have you put a new string on recently or waxed it. Mine will do that in either situation. The excess wax can get in the string grooves and sounds like that as the string come of the limb tips. I just have to clean the excess off and everything is fine. Not sure if this is your problem.

One other thing to check is unstring it and make sure your limb bolts are snug.

Good luck.

It didn't make this noise the first few times i drew the bow back, i have since put a quiver on, i'll try tightening the limb bolts. can anyone tell me how to remove and reattch a nock point when tuning a bow?

Put some bow wax between limbs and riser when you break her down.  This helped mine.when tuning u can use brass nocks or athletic tape for preliminary nock.  Then either crimp the brass down or remove the tape and tie nock in.  If brass is the way you want to go make sure you have the correct nock pliers to remove the nock. The are a bear to remove without these pliers.  My. 02 cents

String wax between limbs and riser works.  Easy fix.

You have a tip protector on the bottom limb? I had a leather tip protector on my Bear Takedown. It was very noisy. Change it to one of the plastic protector and never had creak again.

I know this does't apply to your problem. Many many years ago my father was given an  all aluminum bow. I think it was a cedarquist. He wasn't interested in it, so I took to shootin it. Each time I drew it there was a horrible screeching sound. One day as I brought it to full draw the top limb fractured and flew completely over the house. I don't know of anyone
today that makes alum. limbs. But beware.

Twice this happened to me. The first time the riser broke at full draw, just about knocked me out. The second time the bottom limb broke. I hope neither happens to you, as it's never fun getting beat up by your bow.

I have a takedown that would squeak.  I tried the wax and that didn't work.  But I cut and placed a piece of thin felt between the limb and riser and problem solved. I would think mole hair would work too.

Remember not to over tighten your limb bolts.  They need to be good and snug, but you don't want to really crank on them.

#1...if it's recurve get yourself a BOWSTRINGER if you don't have one. 3-R's have an excellent one with the plastic tips. Love them. If your new to Trad, don't take a chance with hurting your bow trying to string between the leg!

Pretty common. The limb bolt wax suggestion fixed this on a Widow PSAIII for me.  I recently had this with a brand new 1-piece (no joints in that one!). It was wax in the new string. Some of it is when the string "Lifts" off the curves during draw -- very early in the draw for the bow I'm referring to.
