wheres the birds
« on: February 13, 2011, 03:04:00 AM »
took a hike with my wife and brought the bow along to do some stump shooting/scouting. Maybe I should say I took my bow for a walk and brought my wife along but valentines day Is Mon.Any way, went to my favorite turkey spot and saw nothing,no tracks,no droppings. were having a early spring here in Calif. (at least for now) going to get wet next week. I wonder whats up. I hunt the high country and I think the birds hang just below the snow line. and the snowline is not even close to where I was. Very strange for this time of year. Thats been my go to place for the opening so seeing no sign has got me wondering

They probably just haven't shifted from their winter range to their spring range yet. Winter flocks break up and disperse in a spring remix, and change core areas.
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.- Ben Franklin
