Riser wood combos?
« on: February 13, 2011, 11:43:00 AM »
Hey Guys,

I have ordered a couple bows from Madog.  They were matching bows made of Ziricote with an accent stripe with black glass, for me and my twin brother.  I am looking to place another order with him for a lighter draw weight and was wanting something different.

I have very little expierence in choosing wood riser combo's but would love to see some pics of the bows you guys have an consider unigue or pretty.   I seem to prefer the darker bows but would love to see pictures of all.  I appreciate it.

You can tell from below that I really like Cocobolo.  But, I'm having a bow made right now (Silvertip) that will be Rosewood & Macassar with Myrtle limbs.

If you do a search for just about any bow you'll find great pictures. My favorite is "Schafer Pictures".

Both of my two Blacktail TD recurves have cocobolo risers footed with shedua separated by two lines of white myrtle. Below are two photos of my 37# bow's riser, front and back.

It's not necessarily unique, but I always thought bocote/cocobolo made a pretty pair...
