Skinny string and serving size?
«

I started building my own skinny strings and wanted to get some ideas on serving sizes to use.
Firast off here is what I do, I made a few 8 strand strings of D-10 and padded the loops with B-50, then I served with .018 Diamond braid and then .024 halo on top. I use both GT 35/55 and heritage 150's. The holo is a bugger to used compared to the Diamond braid. The nocks are a little tight buit not too bad. So I have two question on serving options for two different string counts.
#1 8 strand D-10 what serving sizes and type
#2 10 strand D-10 what serving sizes and type
Thanks for input

Terry,
If you e-mailed Pierre Lucas at SBD bowstrings he could probably make a recommendation. I shoot his 6 strand ultra skinny strings and I think he double serves with .026 Brownells Crown. The fit with my Bohning Signatures is perfect. It may not work with others so mention what nocks you use. I don't know why there's not a standard nock throat dimension. I used to shoot Axis/Beman X nocks and they're a different animal requiring another configuration.

I have 8 strand D-97 strings and my first serving is Diamondback .018 and my top serve is BCY Halo .021. Really like the nock fit. snaps on and won't move up and down the string.
What I am not sure of is if my D97 and your D-10 are the same diameter. So if anyone knows that this may help.

The combo I like on my skinny strings is first with 1D serving .017 with No.62 XS .021 over the area where my fingers are.I have used this on 6 strand 450+,8 strand D97 and 10 strand 8125 they are all pretty close to the same diameter. This will give me around .105 - .108 finished diameter, which fits my nocks Easton 3D Super nocks.

Kentucky TJ has is right for your 8 strand strings. D97 and D10 have the same dia.
On a 10 strand D97 string, I use .024 Halo. It fits most carbon arrow nocks just right.

I think it also depends on your size nocks. Not all are the same. I shoot Goldtip's with a Bohning Signature nock. I find a GT nock is looser than the Bohning Signature nocks.
I make an 8 strand TS-1 string (TS-1 is .014 dia) and double serve w/.021 serving.

T, 8 strd Astroflight, same as D10 I use .018 diamond under and .021 62xs over, the 62xs grips well, very durable and clean release, and will be a little smaller than the .024.
