Bare Shaft Tuning Question.
« on: February 24, 2011, 04:56:00 PM »
Im kinda new to trad. been shooting about a year. and have never used wraps, and just decieded to try them. Do i need to bare shaft tune my new arrows with the wraps on or does it not matter. Thanks for your help Guy's.

It would be best to tune using the wraps if you are going to put them on the shaft. They do not weigh much, but if you can put them on and bare shaft tune, it is best to do it.

It's a good idea.8" wraps that I have been using weigh 12 grs.X amount of weight on the rear of the arrow will affect things more than the same amount on the front,at least in theory.I like them though to help me find arrows and they take fletch glue well.I try to not start tuning until I have everything on the bow and arrow as I would when hunting.

If you wanted to start tuning without them, you could but just know that you may have to bump up the point weight a little after you apply the wraps.

I thought so i just wasn't quite sure so i decieded to err on the side of caution. The dang wind is blowing now, and sleet so im not going to even attempt to try tuning yet.
