Hog Hunting Question?????????
« on: February 26, 2011, 03:21:00 PM »
Looking for a good hog hunt w/ high shot oppurtunity. Going w/ my 66yr old father who has always wanted to shoot a wild hog w/ his recurve. He can get around good but he has some terminal heath issues that is the main reason  why I said high shot oppurtunity. I'm looking at Florida because we have always wanted to go on a airboat ride through the Everglades. Anyway I have only contacted osceola outfitters but he has not called me back. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
                             Thanks, Phil

Just wanted to add we only want a fair chase hunt for WILD hogs not interested in having exotics  and such walking around. Let me stress I have no problem w/ people hunting exotics or what ever is legal in there state so please just want some good hog hunting info.w/ dogs, stands, blinds, and spot and stalk.
                            Thanks Again, Phil

Try Archery Outfitters.  Their ranch is located 18 miles South of Arcadia, FL.  Approx. 6,000 acre cattle ranch with free roaming hogs.  You can spot and stalk or you can hunt over feeders with shots not longer than 20 yds.  You can also hunt from the ground which is what I do.  Nickie Roth (the owner) doesn't guarantee a hog, but he does guarantee a good hunt.  Another place is Treasure Island at Cedar Key, FL.  Either way, you and your Pop will be together in the woods and it doesn't get much better than that.

Phil, check out Osceola Outfitters near Melbourne, Florida.  I have been there about nine times now--25,000 acre cattle ranch with large population of feral hogs.  Not a high fence operation.  Hoppy Kempfer is the outfitter and will give you and your dad a hunt to remember.  My son and I go every year.  Lots of hogs, great accomodations, good food, and an outfitter who really cares.  See  www.osceolaoutfitters.com.
