Places to hog hunt in AL or FL panhandle
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:04:00 PM »
I plan on taking a 4th of July road trip through AL from Decatur to pensacola and was wondering if anyone can suggest places (outfitters or public) that have lots of hogs to bowhunt

I searched the site and didn't see much mentioned about places in Alabama or the panhandle for hog hunting. So any suggestions?

will have to find private land.  most public lands only open during other seasons unless they have a special hog season.

july is a tough time to be in the woods in Alabama.  bug dope and snake chaps!

Some of the management Areas have special Hog hunts.  Check the Conservation website.
 www.outdooralabama.com
Some of the farmers around here have a problem with them, but still hard to get permission to hunt.
If I come up with something, I'll try to get back to you.

Chop,  I know some hog hunters in the pan handle of Florida.  They arent "bow" guys,  but do hunt every weekend and know where there are hogs.

I have been thinking of going down myself,   maybe we can plan a hunt.

Matt - I'd love to get together on a hog hunt. Maybe I'll get a chance to put the pig sticker you're to good use
As for your gunning friends, I have no qualms at all. I mean if you really want to be handicapped by using a gun who am I to judge

Grinch that's great. I've been in Annapolis myself for 4 years now.

You bet Larry! I love the pics from the Fins and feathers post.

I think My itineray is shaping up this way...

Arrive in panhandle area around 7/2 or 7/3 (depending on when I leave and how traffic works out).
Hog hunt/bow fish until 7/6 evening then drive to Decatur   :banghead:

7/9-7/10 drive back to MD

7/11 back to reality    :(
