My dad uses burnt cork and it works well and comes off easy.

It's raining and Lexie, my black lab, is in her dog house 30 yards away, facing the house and  looking this way. Her head is in the shadows, but her black nose I can see well from relected light, even though it's cloudy today.  With sun, her whole face could be seen.  You decide, but I like a face mask with elastic or draw/tight cord pulling my eye-openings back & down slightly. Never had a problem this way with shooting or eyes blocked. I've not used face paints, but the burnt cork sounds intesting - I may try it. I know for sure that doves turn when they see my face and hands that aren't camoed in the corn/bean fiels.

I wear a black Under Armour hood. Its a spandex face mask that's warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot. I love mine....got a camo and white one as well.

I don't like paint, and have always worn a mask...never had a problem.

If I am in a pop up, use a black mask, with one big slot for eyes, no prolems that way. I I am in my ghille, in a natural bllind, I use a camo spandex with one big eye slot, sprayed down with scent shield. Killed a lot of critter this way, most up close, 15-20 ydds.
