Bear Bomb

Going back to Quebec this year. Timing should be close to the rut. Anybody have experience with the bear bomb sow in heat scent either good or bad?

I haven't but I took a bottle of "Sow In Heat" scent to Saskatchewan once. Before I got in the tree,I leaned toward the bait site and squirted some on the base of a tree.

A big old sow came in later with three cubs. The cubs ran to the bait while she circled the edge of the site to check things out.As soon as she hit that tree, she got agitated, quickly circled the site which had about 5 trails coming into it like spokes on a wheel. She went several yds down each trail she came to,scent checking. After making her circle, she gathered up the cubs and got out of there.

The cubs were mad. They wanted to eat. After a minute or so,the cubs ran back and she came back and made them get out of there. She wanted no parts of that place.

I can't tell you why it spooked her and she wasn't a target but it makes me wonder. Was she afraid of a strange sow? Was it really sow urine? I have no idea and didn't get a chance to see a boar react to it.I'm a little leery about using it now.

That probably doesn't give you any information you can use but that was my only experience with it.

I hope others have more information.

Well, I don't have any experience with the bear bomb sow in heat lure, but I do have experience with sow in heat lure.

I have used it for a few years now with great results on big boars, once the rut is in full swing, big boars don't want anything to do with food.
Just ask Tony, "Maine Guide" on here, last year he was hunting from a ground blind & had a monster boar come to the bait broadside at 7 yards, first thing he did was put his nose to the ground where I squirted some sow in heat lure, I'll let him tell what happened.....................LOL!
