Wood shaft choice?

Need help: What is the best wood for arrow shafts
and where can I buy.

That's like asking which is better pretzels or potatoe chips.
You will get a lot of different opinions and it depends on YOUR preference. My personal favorite is Surewoods (Douglas Fir) from Braveheart archery. Sitka spruce is good as are some of the hard woods. Cedar is still good if you can find quality shafts. Do a search and you will find lots of info. Also check the sponsors on this sight. I like cedar and Douglas fir.

Give laminated Birch a try.  Heavy weight shafts and durable.

Surewood shafts from Braveheart are the best deal for us Canadians because of the postage etc. Oh yeah they are also the nicest wood shafts I have found. Hildebrand Sitka spruce a very close second especially if you want a somewhat lighter shaft.   Bob

Surewood Shafts=durable, straight, good weight, beautiful, accepts stain well, the guys at Surewood are great traditional archers that put their heart and soul into making the best shafts in the industry today!

I like ash shafts from Alleghny Mountain Arrow Woods.They have all kinds of wood and great service also.

I love POC just because of its nostalgia and aroma; however, I've gotten good service out of Douglas fir and they take stain beautifully. Maple is heavy, but durable. I have a set of Sitka spruce arrows I bought from a fellow Tradganger, and they are really tough compared to POC. Pays yo money, takes yo choice!
