Magnus Bullheads?

I was just out for a little preseason turkey warm up and was shooting a 125 grain magnus bullhead. I was shooting from about 12 to 15 yards and had one of the blades break off and shoot back past me. Brand new broadhead no damage and was shooting into a morrells yellow jacket broadhead target. Has anyone had this happen or heard of this?   :confused:

Very interesting. I have shot those heads into  open layered foam targets and haven't had any problems. I could be mistaken but I don't think they recommend shooting them into closed foam.

I hadn't heard that about the closed foam before. Very could be the problem. I was at a little bit of an angle but I sure wouldn't have thought it would have broken a blade. It was a little scary once I realized what the whizzing sound was that went by. Ill stick to pillows from now on. They stop them without a problem!

ya you have to shoot them into a layered target...and its suggested not to practice with them only to shoot them for refference of impact...now that being said heres how i practice with them.i buy some long balloons and blow them up and tape the tie end on a stick and put them on the waters edge of my pond and shoot into the pond...carbons float well,wood does to..aluminum sinks quick..lol

They don't look very durable.  Any steel that thin and long that could hold up without bending is going to be brittle.

Don't they come with replacement blades?  That's a bad sign.  ;-)

In my opinion they are pretty dang durable for how they are designed. I have even used them when my buddy and I went out shooting thirteen ground squirrels and I was shootin the ground behind them and that was 67 pounds out of my compound! Magnus has a lifetime backed warranty! I love em and would like to see how they throw out of my recurve.

All in all a great head in my opinion

Thanks for the feed back. I had shot them alot out of my compound without incident.  I think it was the targer and possibly the angle. just couldnt believe it threw the blade back at me with as much force as it did.  I think i will send the head back to magnus its got a big notch out of it now where the blade broke off.
