"best" web instructions for flemish string construction
« on: June 16, 2007, 10:33:00 PM »
Anybody know of some really good web based instructions for the flemish string.  I've got one loop perfect but now cannot figure out how to the the other one.  My instructions suck.  Point me in the right direction please.  Thanks.

Justin... not sure where you can look, but someone will chime in.

Try this... put the finished loop over one end of the bow (in the nock). Stretch it out toward the other end and grab it 4 1/2" from the opposite nock. (5" if it's a recurve) Twist enough for a loop, lay the short ends on the long section and twist to finish.

Really as simple as that. Hope that helps some.

That second loop seems to give people cramps for some reason.  Just make it *exactly* like you made the first one and you'll be fine.  Do not turn it around, over, or inside out.  Make it just like the first one.

The secret in the second loop is putting in the reverse twists after you have done the first loop. Straighten out the twists in the bundles and then twist them the wrong way...I usually put in thirty six into each bundle. Then just do the second loop like you did the first.

Justin, if the web site that Mikey posted doesn't work get in touch with Chad Weaver, Champion Custom Bowstrings and get a copy of his dvd "Doing the Twist". Chad's a sponsor here.....
