brass inserts for CX heritage 90's????
« on: March 29, 2011, 12:10:00 AM »
do they exist??? it sucks i bought a dozen 50gr inserts when i ordered my heritage arrows and they dont fit.  arrows seem to fly best with a 250gr point so if i cant find a heavy wieght insert im going to have to shell out mad cash to buy heavy wieghted broadheads.

I'm not sure, but I think the Gold Tip weights fit. Not sure about the PDP. Make sure you verify before you order.

just looked it up. the brass inserts for GT only fit fit the cx 150 and up. the pdp will fit the 90's but i dont think the 50 gr weight will.  i emailed 3 rivers about this. so i guess i will see what they recommand for the pdp system

I use 125 g glue on broadheads on 125 g screw in tapered all metal inserts.

I like the GT wt system better than PDP's.  With the PDP's you need an adapter, the GT wt's will screw into the back of the insert without an adapter.

The GT weights are too large of a diameter to fit in the shafts.I don't know about the PDP weights, never used them.I made my own brass inserts for my 90's from 50 gr. 5/16" brass inserts.I mounted a blunt in my drill and spun and filed them to fit my 90's.They came out to about 42 grs. of weight. And I filed a taper on the insert so there was a smooth transistion from them to the shaft the 90's are a 9/32" shaft.

With a little work those you bought can be made to fit.  Screw a point into the insert and chuck it up in a drill.  Secure the drill to a table/work bench, and take a mill file to the insert.  Work slowly and check fit often.  I use the corner of the file to add some grooves, after I get them to size. I've done a dozen in an hour or so with this method.

You can buy glue on broadheads and glue in some steel adapters.

You can get 100 or 125 grain steel adapters from 3 Rivers and use 150 or 125 grain broadheads

I used these before.  They screw into the back of the insert.

That is one reason I went to Gold Tips.

What Apex Predator said. It's not hard at all.
