Hi all, I am needing a little help with my arrow set up. I am shooting a Hoyt Buffalo 45lb @28inches and my draw is 28inches. I haven't checked the actual weight but I am hearing that the buffalo is about 3 lbs more than listed. Anyway, I have Carbon Express heritage 150's cut to 29inch (nock groove to insert) with standard nock/inserts and a 7 inch wrap with three 5 inch feathers. Also I have the following field points 100, 125, 145 and 175.

If you have any recommendations on which set up would work the best I would appreciate your assistance...

I have the same bow and found the 150s too stiff without a unusable amount of tip weight. The Gold Tip 35-55 full length and 145 gr. tip shot well. Have some Carbon Express 100s full length that am going to try next. Shot a few with 145 gr, tips and they looked good so far. Will know more after shooting them again. Roy

I have the same bow but with 40 and 50lbs limbs. With the 40# limbs I shoot CE Heritage 150's or 250's. The 150's are 30.5" with factory inserts and 100g tips. The 250's are 32" with 125g tip and 50g insert. The 150's shoot just a tad batter but both work. Mine pulls 43# when dialed up all the way. I have not shot the 50# limbs extensivily yet. I am using a 8 strand string. Deadly set up out to 30y, at least on foam.

Thanks for the reply... This is my first try at trad equipment after 20 years of compounds. So far so good, I am trying to figure the tuning out but other than that I am enjoying the transition...

Im shooting 29.5" Heritage 150's out of my 45# Dorado....finished total arrow wt of 466gr with a 125gr point and a 20gr. wt screwed in behind the insert. They fly great.

I just put my 62"Buffalo Bow together. 50 # @ 28. Closer to 54# on my scale. I tried the CX 150 setup that I shoot out of my ACS @ 50#. Need to adjust my nock. Arrows seem to be wobbling alot. What brace height is recommended. I shot 3 under. My out of the box brace with a few twists on the factory string was over 8". Is this about right ?? Thanks, Randy

Hi Randy, I am new to trad shooting so I can't give sound advice. However I am shooting 45lb at 28 inch with an 8 1/4 inch brace with good arrow flight.

I was not sure on the brace height. It is more than I am used too. Guess I should watch the CD (directions ). My out of the box setup is not terrible. Raining hard right now. Plan to tinker tomorrow. Take care, Randy

I just bought Flintheads Buff so I'll give my results this week when I get it. I have a ton of arrows to try so we'll see what happens. I relly love Heritage and have a brand new doz that I need use so those might be the go to arrows. Been wanting to try some Axis or MFX so this might be the time also. I will report back with some thoughts.

My Buff with the 55 pound limbs on at my draw is about 52 pounds.

I have 400's cut at 29 inches with a 200 grain insert and a 125 grain head flying like darts

I don't have the Hoyt but I shoot a lot of 47-48# bows. I can shoot the 150's cut to 29" a fifty grain insert and 175-200 grain tip and they fly great.
I would bare shaft that 150 with different weights, if it shoots nock right your overspined and if it shoots nock left your underspined. If it shoots nock high or nock low adjust your nock and you should be able to dial it in.

When I run your numbers on Stu's program it shows you need 200 to 210 grains total weight up front (insert and point weight).
