Thoughts on next bow for my daughter?
« on: April 05, 2011, 08:15:00 PM »
Hey guys,

Just looking for some input on what bow I should get for my daughter next. She is 7 years old and is shooting a Pilgrim recurve (9# @ 16") I want to step her into something that will grow with her for a little while. Any thoughts or direction would be great !

Thanks no nothing.  I am also in the hunt for a bow for an almost 5 year old girl, but had only seen the pilgrims on 3Rivers and junky fiberglass (which she has).  But a 36" recurve @21" is prolly too much to handle for a girl who is only a hair taller than that!

Mike's little girl has great form and a firecracker attitude! Help him find a bow for her so she will come out and shoot with us again!

Ditto on the Maddog bows...I've got two daughters shooting them and they are great.

medium grade takedown bow, so you only have to  buy new limbs (heavier weight etc...) as she progresses

Maddog is great but also consider a Samick T/D when she is a bit older. You can buy a set of limbs every couple years for $40-50 dollars and the new Samicks are actually a nice bow. Shawn

Maddog x10!  My son got his Pup Recurve when he was 5 and still shooting it 2 years later.  Great guy to work with too.
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob;(from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:) -Genesis 49:24

I vote for the Maddog as well. My boy just won a Maddog Pup  and he should be able to shoot it for a few years then it will be handed down to the next in need here on T-Gang. Call Mike at Maddog he will steer you in the right direction. The 5 year old will probably have to fight a larger bow I would think till she grows a year or two if you want something that can actually spit an arrow out there. Maybe not, I'm not sure of her size , so call Mike tell him the situation, see what he says. Good luck  Chris
