I saw a buck in SC on Saturday with antler buds started already. They were only about an inch out of his skull, but they were absolutely there. Maybe local conditions have something to do with the timing of antler drop and re-growth. One of the guys I was hunting with found sheds that had lots of rodent chewing marks on them so it looked like they had been shed and on the ground for a while.

Learn something new each day, it seems.

When I was stationed at Kingsbury FW Area in Laporte, IN I saw an antlered deer on April 10th. This was in earlyl 1980's.

I saw 4 different bucks last week around the 6th or 7th with antlers, one was a 3 point alone then in the city,I saw a 8pt running with 2 small bucks that had each lost one antler a piece, they were coming out a small patch of woods to soccer field...I couldn't believe it,I've never saw it this late..I know those bucks probably live most of there lives in that small patch of woods surrounded by homes on one side an interstate 70  on the other..
