Grim Reaper Bows Winsor Canada (Pics Added)
« on: January 12, 2007, 10:19:00 AM »
Wondering if anybody has ever heard of these bows?  I bought one maybe 6 years ago from a retail chain and love the bow.  It is my go to bow.  Would like to possibly buy another but can't find any information on them.  I went back to the retail store where I bought it and they no longer carry them.  Any info would be great.

Thanks,
Tim

There is one made by a bowyer who worked for them in the classifieds here right now. I've seen new ones sold on the auction site and tend to believe that is how they are sold now.

Hey Tim, did you ever find anymore out on these bows? By the way, that retail store wouldn't happen to be in Clare would it?

Hey guys actually I forgot all about I posted this.  I did buy it from Jay's in Clare Michigan.  I dug through all my old paperwork and found the phone number for the guy that was building these bows.  He is no longer making bows and sold all of his equipment to make them.  I still have this bow but havent shot it in probably a year or so.  If I can ever stop buying new bows and save up some cash I plan to send it to Jim Belcher and have it refinished and reduced in weight.

Joe, your right they do look very similar.  I cant say much about your bow but I know mine will smoke an arrow.  I have always credited this to the limb design with the "wave" in it.

Tim I used to work at Jays. When did you buy it? When I worked there a friend that still works there, Eric L., was the first person to actualy introduce me to traditional archery. I shot the two Grim Reapers that we had in stock all of the time. The one I favored was a 70#er that shot like a dream. Knowing where I worked should tell you why I never bought it(min.wage).   :biglaugh:   :biglaugh:

Just wanted to bring this back to the top to see if anyone else could share any info on this bow? I have wanted to shoot one again since the last time I shot one. That says something right? lol

I still have mine.  The guy that made them is no longer making bows.  The only 2 I have ever seen are mine and one my dad owns.  I have never seen another one.

Tim I don't think I had a chance to meet you at the stomp but would love to at the next gathering. You have a couple of my "wish I had" bows.

Is this bow a "glass laminate" bow? And what is the limb design called? It dosen't look like a standard R/D longbow but I could very well be way wrong. This sure as heck wouldn't be the first time and probly won't be the last.
