Are Carbons faster?

I haven't chrono'd the carbons I just made up. I was wondering if it is my imagination or do these fly faster than a comparable aluminum or wood? They sure seem to.....? What is your experience?

lighter and thinner, physics would dictate that they should.

I guess I should have added that I am not a speed junkie (need to say this in case there are some trad. police lurking out there). lol But I was a little surprised at the difference when I first shot them. I still love making and shooting wood arrows. My Legacy's hit the mark consistantly....I love 'em all.

I like your handle! I could use more of that at times.

No imagination there, they fly faster and last longer, but nothin hits like wood.

I believe that arrow speed is simply related to the weight of the arrow if all other things are equal. Two well tuned arrows of the same weight should fly the same whether wood, aluminum, or carbon.

In theory, the carbon should be faster all else being equal... less energy wasted in paradox.

What Doc and Charlie said. Your carbons are probably lighter than the wood and aluminum you've been shooting.

Charlie,
Thank goodness I am only a single doc...not a paradox. I hate wasted energy.

Simple physics: if your bow shoots them faster, they must be lighter than what you have been shooting, although they may tune better out of your bow, and, as Charlie said, be straightening out quicker and wasting less energy, thus giving you more speed.

Snag1, I could use more myself, that is why I chose it. When I think of shooting trad it just stood out, along with a couple others but it just seem to fit.

Charlie is right on the money with this. A carbon weighing the same will be noticably faster because of its quicker recovery from paradox.

Have you seen the slow-mo video on the Carbon Express website?Nothing short of amazing to me,& leaves little doubt(to me,anyhow) as to why a carbon should be faster.
