Ontario Moose
« on: April 23, 2011, 06:01:00 PM »
Not 100% sure yet but it looks like I ight be going out for swamp donkey again this year. Another group of guys have asked me to start up a new crew with them. I will be the only trad guy and myself and another guy will be doing most of the leg work as in scouting work. Will be in Matachewan the end of the hwy in North Eastern Ontario, for tags we will be getting two bull tags. What happens is the Ontario goverment has so many outfitter tags alloted to certain camps that clients buy from them and they are normally gun tags. What we do is find a camp that has a left over tag and ask the ministry to convert it, what  they do is turn one gun tag into two archery tags, works for us!

I have been thinking of either an elk hunt or swamp donkey hunt in 2012.  Any outfitters you would recommend?

For moose I would recommend WildGoose Lake Lodge for a DIY moose hunt in Ontario, outfitter I have nothing as we just pay for a room and do the rest ourselves.

Thanks guys.  Both those options look good and within my price range.  I think I will need a guide my first time out as I've never hunted moose before.  Bigugly; let us know how your moose hunt turns out and best of luck!
