What would it take to..................
« on: April 23, 2011, 11:12:00 PM »
Start a "all traditional" event like comptons or the other major events in my home state of Arkansas? may not be possible but why not? alot of people from the south can't drive that far and it has always been a dream of mine to have a great event like comptons right here in the state I live in?

Any advice?

Unless you're independently wealthy, probably the first step would be to find sponsors/investers who would finance at minimum the purchase of 3D targets.  Your best bet would be to tap into a local club that caters to all archery tackle and see if there is interest in hosting a traditonal only shoot.  It could build up from there.

Look into local trad clubs that are fairly close.  See if you can get a couple together to provide the 3D target for the first year or two.  Share the income from the shoot to help them out and pay for you new targets.  Work hard at rounding up vendors and sponsors. Advertising is critical.  Lots of shooters means vendors get lots of attention and will come back.  Start working on finding a good location.  It may not be close to your place it might even be out of state.
