I wish Dan Quillian was alive to read some of these snake-hater comments. Dan caught and kept snakes, including the dangerous ones, all his life. He would release them when fall came, so they could find a natural wintering place.

My brother and I once stayed in his Airstream while visiting him, and he told us as an afterthought that a copperhead had escaped its cage in the trailer, but not to worry about it because he thought it probably had gotten outside.

We slept rather lightly.
