AMO Bushings for AMS reel
« on: April 24, 2011, 11:26:00 PM »
Thinking about getting the 10-24 AMO bushings (I believe those are the right ones)for a couple of my bows to mount my AMS reel. I hate the strap on adapter thing, bugs the heck out of me, and it puts the trigger of the reel too far from the riser to be comfortable. I'm comfortable drilling my riser now, and was wondering if any of you have tried these. Are they difficult to install? Are they the right ones? And do they work well? (Stay in and don't fall out or anything like that)

Thanks for playing 20 questions!   :goldtooth:

I have installed them on several bows and they work great. If you get the set made by martin archery they are easy to install. Simply drill the hole tap it down in the hole,(I use a pc of wood) then use the provided screws witch will expand the insert and set it into the riser permantly. The nocking point sells them. You can then slide the reel up or down to get the trigger where you want it.

Kiefer, what you need is the 5/16-24 the 10-24 is the size used for AMO standard sight bracket or Kwikee quiver.

Sorry, but for the AMS reel which mount into AMO sight holes, he will need the 10-24 inserts.
The 5/16-24 is the AMO Stabiliser bushing.

I installed a set of bushings into my ILF Morrison, for the self-same reason. They come with a drilling template (Which makes it a breeze!) Just make 100% sure you drill the holes deep enough. I misjudged one of mine & it now sits a little proud of the riser. Once they're in, they're in. You won't get a second chance!
