Toying with the idea... son getting married.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a his and hers set of bows and other equipment. My son has been out of the bowhunting scene for 5 years. His fiance says she would like to hunt deer.
I believe I want to break them in slowly with an older (smooth shooting) set of bows (bears, damon howits, shakespears...).
They are both right eyed. He is 5'10" & 125lbs she is 5'1" and might push 105lbs.
I was thinking 40-45# @ 28" for him & 35# @ 28" for her.
What do you all think?
Anybody know where I might find a matched set?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Don't know their actual interest but trad bows may open new doors and paths to be shared in the future.
Could be a wonderful and enduring gesture.
Keep us posted.

Speak to them first. Yes it may not be a surprise anymore, but maybe she just likes to gun hunt or muzzleload or whatever. Usually it is no big deal to talk to adults and ask if they are interested into something.
Usually it doesn't make much sense to spend your time and money if they want to persue something else or you're disapointed because they're not interested.

Cool idea! May want to bow down just a little if she is that petite and just starting out. My wife is 5'06" and 120# and a college athlete and 35@28 was a little too much for her to learn with comfortably. Good luck...Shawn

Feed him....he's too skinny...YIKES!
But seriously, I'd get'em both something in the 30lb range to start and go from there. Something old and useable. A bowyer will take a while but is probably the way to go after they get their feet wet.
I got my daughter, 5'2" and roughy 110lbs, an old Shakespere Wonderbow #30er from a fine tradganger in Florida. Cost was minimal starting out. She's shot it maybe 10 times. The weight is good for her. Go used first. Then step up if necessary.

You might consider two Samick takedowns from 3Rivers. Roughly $130 each. Not bad for a first bow and affordable in 2x buying.

Thank you all for the comments, & advice. I'll be looking around, and doing some thinking, I got a little time (very little), before their big day.

45# is good for him (those skinny guys are surprisingly strong) but I'd drop back to 30# for her.
I think it's a great idea.

I believe tecum-tha speaks wisdom, but how about Hoyt Excel risers and light limbs? Small investment to move up in weight later. All the best to them and you.

Sounds like a great idea. I just asked my wife what she thought and she agreed to ask their thoughts. They may sell them for something else or never use them.
