put some nice 66#@29" x56"limbs on my bighorn t/d,shot some 2216s ok, but a little stiff with 125 up front, bought some 2020s w/100 up front and they shoot like wet noodles at 29 1/2"length,was thinkin to insert some wood dowels in the foot about 4 or 5 inches .what do you think, will that make the arrow think it's shorter thereby increasing the spine,a 28"2020 flighs fine but it's to short for my works.if you got some ideas i'm all ears.

Mike, 2117's should work fine.

To me, the wood dowel idea, while it might work, would be too much trouble. I'd think they'd have to be epoxied in to keep them from shifting over time, then you can't get them out if it doesn't work etc.... 2117's sound like a better approach to me.

Mike, don't know what finished weight you are shooting for, but try some 2215's; slightly stiffer than the 2020's but less than the 2117/2216's.

If the 2216's were "a little stiff" with 125 grains I'de try 145 grains and watch what happens. I used to shoot a 66# bow and 2216's with 125 up front was perfect.

I would agree with Bill, I'm surprised the 2216's were too stiff. Also if you could, try the 2216's just a bit longer.

I agree with Bill and Ken, 2216's should fly perfect with either a slightly longer length or 145-160 GR. up front.

i stuffed 6"of dowel tapered for 2" in the foot w/ some barge glue, cut them, 29 7/8ths,i'll try them in the morning ,they should spine as though they're25" long and have a good foc,at 13.5 gpi+60 grains for the footing,19grains for the insert,10 for the fletching,10 for the nock,100 for the tip, gives me 600 grains total weight about 30 %foc,i'm optomistic, will report results tommorrow.
