Do you believe in Karma??????
« on: June 21, 2007, 11:47:00 PM »
I was the high bidder for the Hornes Tradgang Faith bow at the St Judes auction.  Less than a week later I was notified that I had drawn a Nevada Desert Bighorn Sheep tag in one of the best units in the state.  I have been putting in for sheep tags for over 20 years and have never drawn one anywhere.  Did my donation to St. Judes help my odds?  Was there divine intervention?  Even though I have other bows including a Dalaa and a Black Swan I don't think I dare go on this hunt with anything but Faith.

I wouldn't put to much weight in that. This is the hunt of a lifetime so take the bow you have the most confidence in. Doug Campbell drew his CO sheep tag this year after twenty years of trying and he has been doing the auction since it started.

Though pics and a story with Faith and a Bighorn would be sweet.

Wow do I envy you!  Just in case, I'm going to have to be the high bidder next year.

And pics, pics, pics...bighorn or not, you're going to be in for a special experience for sure.

Well, karma or no, those are two very cool things to win. Congrats to you on both counts. We'll expect lots of pics from the hunt.   :campfire:

well you have plenty of time to find out if Faith is the right bow for the hunt. that said, it is a once in a lifetime hunt and it would seem that the stars have aligned for this one.  looking forward to the story and photos.

Wow! Chuck! Yes.. what Ian said. Divine Providence takes place in our lives every day! All The Best! Have a Great Hunt! Bring back pic's!!!
Someday you and I will take the Great Hart by our own skill alone, and with an arrow. And then the Little Gods of the Woods will chuckle and rub their hands and say, "Look, Brothers. An Archer! The Old Times are not altogether gone!"

Wow, desert bighorn in Nevada is probably one of the hardest if not the hardest tag for a hunter to get anywhere. Congrats on the tag and the bow! Cheers, Matt

I do put stock in such as this!
Even if empirical evidence and the greatest scientific minds of the day should be lucky enough (  :D  ) to prove without a doubt that there is no such thing as Karma, luck, Divine Intervention or personal power lent by the Spirits, belief in such can inspire the man to give the extra effort needed to achieve his goal.

But I believe in that stuff. Kinda. To delineate detracts, so suffice it to say that I am pulling for you every inch of the way. May the Force be with you! (Sorry. Sorry that the movie trivializes the things that work unseen.)

I believe deeply in the CONCEPT of karma. I believe, in other words, that the world would be an infinitely better place if we all got what we deserved; if our actions resulted in morally appropriate re-actions. Were this a physical law, everyone would be good, since good would be immediately rewarded and bad immediately punished. Tragically, in the big and long view, we see little evidence of karma in action as a force of the universe Even so, it's a damn good rule to live by, so I pretend that it works. Have a great hunt. What goes around comes around. Good deeds are rewarded, in one form or another. Sometimes it is so subtle that we may not notice when a good deed is rewarded. Other times we get a tag that has been sought after for TWENTY years.

Ever see that picture of Fred Bear roasting sheep ribs over an open fire? If memory serves, it was
a black and white photo, but they still looked good.

Go hunt sheep. I hope it is nothing short of magic for you.

Impersonal force acting like something personal?  Nope. Contradiction.  On the other hand, love, beauty, justice, and even Providence all point to the same reality of this world we live in:  all we know must come from something infinite and personal. Only one thing I know like that.

And the wheels of justice are moving. Supremely moved a couple of thousand years ago in real history, real time and place.  Sure glad for this window of time though- as I am clearly guilty and deserve what is just. Instead, I found mercy.

Providence is real though.  Look at a world with order and systems and the source of it all is not far behind.

Congrats- go get him
