After recently owning a ThunderChild I can attest to Big Jim's quality and craftsmanship.

Those limbs are just drop dead gorgeous!!

Jim is a first class guy and a hell of a bowyer. I had the pleasure of talking with him again this year at the 14th Annual Tennesse Classic. He is a personable man who enjoys talking to people and sharing his passion for bow building.

Danny, you found a very beautiful bow.  Those woods really compliment each other.

That is a beautiful bow for sure, and I bet it shoots as good as it looks!

Steve, you're right about the wood combo. That Lemonwood makes a perfect accent to Bocote. I couldn't have chosen the woods better if I'd had it built for me. The Bocote was chosen and worked by Big Jim to perfection. The big guy surely has some beautiful woods in that 'Magic Wood Shed', and he knows what to do with it too.

My 2pc Buff is 60" and is very smooth. I have been wanting to try a 62", and a few pounds lighter than the 2pc. This one is exactly what I was looking for.

Later this year I'll have my 2pc Thunder Child. They are also superb shooting bows.

Thanks for the comments!

One of these days a big package from Albany, GA will be coming to my front door, until then........Thanks for the eye candy!
She's a looker for sure!

In the meantime, I'm dropping off a money order headed down to Big Jim for one of them snazzy 2 pc. strap on quivers for my new BBO I just got done skinnin. Can't wait to see what it looks like fully loaded. That'll have to do until I can afford me a Thunderchild.

Danny,
As soon as I saw your bow I recognized it. I rec'd delivery on that bow from Jim in October 09. I told Jim I wanted all bocote and to pick a nice contrasting wood for the riser and back overlays. He did an OUTSTANDING job.
Looks as good today as when it was brand new. I kick myself regularly for trading that bow off  :bigsmyl:

Dave, I was wondering who it was originally built for. It's still in mint condition. I also had a feeling Jim chose that Lemonwood for the accent. He knew it would work beautifully with that Bocote. I can't believe you let it go. I got it off the auction site. First Big Jim bow I've ever seen there.

You're lucky to live in the same state as Jim. Have you been to his place? I hope to take the "Magical Mystery Tour" some day. Manny was good enough to take us along on his visit not long ago.

Thanks for the history on her, and if I ever suffer one of my bouts of insanity and decide to pass her along, you have first dibs.   :archer2:
