Went to a GUN show in my little town today.

I found an "Appalachion Flatbow" sitting on a table. 62" long 69lbs@28". Locator grip, and sharp looking without much extra. The beauty of wood.
 
I stole it.

I got it home, and we became friends right from the start. Drawing a bit past 28, it pushes a 750 grain arrow with joy.

Anyone have any info on who made this JEWEL, or where?

Those are fine bows--built by Dave Guthrie from West Virginia.  Dave has not been making bows for a few years now, but his bows seldom show up on the used market.

I have no idea but it's funny you asked because just this morning I asked a friend if he had heard of them because I saw they were a vendor for the upcoming H.Hill shoot.I look forward to seeing what they market!

Don congratulations on the new bow I met Dave down at a shoot in West Virginia  around 15 years ago he made really nice bows and on a couple of his bows the tips were carved like arrow heads  make sure you bring that one to Compton this year.

Yep, this bow has some cool limb tips, they look like knapped arrow heads.

Possum Head, that's not the same bowyer you're talking about.  Somebody else is now making bows under that name.  Bonebuster, all of Dave's bows had the knapped arrrowhead tips--that was sort of his trademark.

I have 4 of Daves bows,all have the knapped arrowhead looking tips.One is a 68" straight limbed longbow,and if your string broke I swear you could use that thing as a spear.Very Cool!

Never shot the App myself but always admired them. Good for you. How about a shoot report? 69# is right there. Been awhile since I shot anything 62" though. Bet it'll scoot a 700gr arrow.

I have the same flatbow at 72#@28" and is my favorite bow to shoot period.I shoot a 700 grn. arrow and draw to 29" talk about a real thumper. I talked with David once to confirm that it was one of his because this one did not have the knapped tips.The trademark writing style on the limbs and other numbers matched. What I have he said was one of his early models.( He called it a leafspring). Every one I have seen has been a keeper for the owner. Enjoy shooting the bow and don't ever price it unless you really want it gone! Joe.

Hey 202turkey, I honestly have to say most people wouldn`t believe how this thing shoots.

I put two bows up for sale because of how it shoots.
