JK Kanati vs. Big Jim Thunderchild

Read some rave reviews and comments on both bows which I believe are very similar in design. They both seem great but a man's gotta choose at some point and I don't have the luxury of trying them. There are several factors to contend with T/D option vs only 1-piece, wood options, grip handle (I have small hands), but wanted to get some insights from folks who shot both. Thanks

These threads of one bow versus another won't help you choose,I've shot both and both are excellent bows,the only way you are going to know is try both.

Haven't shot one of Jim's bows, but I've had and/or shot several Kanatis. I too have small hands, which is probably why I like Kanatis...they fit. I had one that just didn't feel quite right, but all the others have been perfect. If you choose a Kanati, let me know and I can have Jason match the grip on my 46# Kanati. It is the best grip I have found on ANY bow...period. Jason is great to work with and for me, he's only about 25 miles away.

The limb designs are really quite different on those 2 bows.Of course thier both forward handled style bows.In that regard thier similar

Both are axcellant bows.

The big Jim has a 12 inch riser.The Kanatis riser is longer.The Big Jim will give you more working limb in the same length bow.

The kanati does come in a 60 inch length if you want something longer.I believe 58' is the longest Thunderchild length?

I had a 60 inch Kanati and it was a great bow for me no doubt.

I got a 56 inch Thunderchild right now in a 2 piece.I draw it about 30 inches and I find it smooth with no stack and comfortable shooting.Very surprizing for such a short bow.Its plenty quick and quiet as well as beautiful.Its my only short bow and It will serve me as well or better than anything when I want a compact bow.I would like to try the 58" someday.

Thier may be more custom options on a Big Jim bow possibly as far as woods and Horn etc.I am not positive about that though?

His 2 piece design is superb.I am sure he could customize the grip to the size you desire.The kanatis grip is smallish and comfortable.I like the grip on both bows.

Its always nice to test both bows before plunging in and laying out the cash.I would be happy with either one after having had both.

Your feedback has served you well by identifying that there are no major detractors from either and that both bows are of high quality.

Bottom line is that only you can ascertain which bow will be the best for you.

These are pants you must try on before knowing if the fit is a match.
