New to Traditional Archery
« on: May 25, 2011, 09:54:00 AM »
Hey everybody, I just got my first bow (PSE Blackhawk 45#) this Christmas and have been practicing almost everyday. I was wondering if anybody could give me some tips on what I should be practicing. Right now I start off my practice with my eyes closed about 10-15 arrows, then I shot 30 from 20 yards, and end my practice by pulling to my anchor for 30 seconds 3 times. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome fellow Michigander!

There is a forum dedicated to shooting...
 http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=forum;f=6

heck, I've been shooting for just a few years and I'm not shooting anything with my eyes closed.

So if you're doing good I'll keep my mouth shut.
Don't want to screw up a good thing.

I will say though, to get someone to watch you or a video camera. The camera is great! Can't argue with it or get mad at it.

From what I've read form is everything.
With good form comes most everything else.
I still don't have good form..and I'm still no good.

Seems I'm not built right for it.

Welcome! I only know enough to say you'll get furthest fastest and mostest with little steps, consistency and persistency.

Welcome!!  I'm from Michigan too.

Try to stay consistent with your anchor. I like middle finger in the corner of my mouth along with anchoring with my thumb knuckle behind the ear lobe.

Good choice on draw weight, most people new to traditional buy bows that are way too much to pull. #45 will kill anything in Michigan.   ;)
Just one more step please!
