Returning favors - UPDATE July 2
« on: May 28, 2011, 08:49:00 AM »
Will try to keep this short.  My cousin has done me 2 large favors in the past few years.  First he introduced me to bowhunting.  He uses a compound, and I did at first too.  However, if it weren't for him I wouldn't be here.

The second favor was passing on to me a 16 gauge shotgun that's been in the family for at least 60 years.  It's not much, but it has the family history with it.

So, this weekend I will be passing this package on to him.  The book/movies will be on loan so I can keep those moving around.

Arrows by me - not the best, but they work

He and I hunt together so we'll see what bow he shows up with this fall!

Thank you guys!

I will see him tomorrow.  He's shot trad at my house before and enjoyed it.  He said he enjoyed it more than his compound, but didn't know if he could ever hunt with a recurve.

I figure if he has one sitting in his house he'll use it, and it very well may work the same magic trad bows do for all of us.

If not with him, then maybe with his daughter who is an active compound target shooter.

Went to my cousin's place yesterday.  I had not seen him since giving him the bow.  He had not shot it yet because of work and family activities.

We set up a target and shot for a while from the ground and elevated.  I hadn't shot myself in over 2 weeks and he hadn't shot the bow but 2-3 times.  I was having an "on" day with that bow and he wasn't doing so bad.

We were shooting from stand height and he says, "I can see this happening".

Well, I don't have a deer yet myself with a trad bow and I reminded him of that and told him I am going to make every effort to make that happen this fall.

He said, "well, it's a race"!
