Arrow and wrap questions
« on: June 07, 2011, 08:34:00 PM »
A few years ago I bought some AD Trad Lites for my 53lb @28" bow.  They never flew right.  Nothing I did to them made them work.  I heard later there was a quality control issue with a batch or two of them.  I have some AD Trads.  Can I use them out of bows in the 52-55 lb range?

Also what size wrap do most of you use on AD arrows?  I was told 1.25" by one company, but seems like that would have quite a bit of overlap on the wrap.  How much overlap is acceptable?

For a 5/16" shaft,1" wrap.I doubt if more overlap would cause a problem.

It is about 15/16" around a 9/32" diameter carbon shaft. Anything less than 1" might be tricky
to wrap.

If you are not set on fancy and printed wraps,
go to a local signshop and ask for some scrap
vinyl. (aka "Signfilm", or sign making vinyl).
It is the same material as the expensive wraps are printed upon. Likely they will give you
some, or for a little money, sell you enough for
dozens of arrows.
Just cut the vinyl to size using  straight edge with a sharp utility
knife blade, being careful not to cut thru the
backing on the vinyl.
Good luck!

+1 more for Onestringer arrow wraps. I just bought 2 dozen solids for $7 bucks and with shipping added is was still less than $10 bucks. That's dang cheap for 24 arrow wraps and the shipping speed was amazing! I ordered on Saturday, Mindy sent me an email within an hour saying they had shipped and they were here on Monday! WOW........that was fast!

Another vote for onestringer! make sure you get the double dogs also, these protect the wraps from fade and wear!  1" should give you enough for alittle over wrap! I've always put my cock feather over the over lap!
I just finished up doing a dz gold tip trads!

I bought the plain jane white ones at 3 Rivers and they're working great. I cut a quarter inch off of them for my 5575s and have 1/16th overlap.
