First Time Chopper

Just had to say how much I enjoyed chopping my first sets of Wild Turkey feathers and cant wait to get em on some of my arrows.

I used the excess front parts of the feathers to make up some 4" flu flu feathers for some older arrows I had left over. The best part of the feather I used for my low profile chopper I got from 3 Rivers.

Just have to say thanks to everyone on this site! Without all this helpful info I dont know if I would be able to gain all the knowledge and tips to help me continue the addiction that is Trad style!

Yep, processing your own natural turkey feathers is a very satisfying feeling. I use wild turkey feathers almost exclusively now and commercial feathers pale in comparison to the natural feathers.

Just used one of my dads hand held power sanders. I think it was pretty easy after I got the hang of it down. Also used a straight Blitzberger clamp with a wood clamp holding the blitz just a little tighter.

Wish I had more primaries, now all I have is secondaries and I dont know if I am gonna play with them yet or not.

I have a chopper that cuts Traditional shape, and my son has a low profile banana cut chopper! I have not chopped real turkey feathers yet but I sure like using mine!

I use hand held sanders also on mine. Sometimes I can't get the width of the quill how I like it. I figure a little wider quill is more contact to hold the feathers on.

Yeah I know what ya mean. I just can't wait for my dad to finish up making the wraps (In honor of a real close friend that passed almost a year ago) and then they are going on and time to have some fun and get ready for fall!!!!!!
