Check out my signature below. I get the high FOC with the use of 100 grain brass inserts and I use 2-bladed Magnus Vented broadheads with aluminum screw-in adapters, presently.

easy, here's the secret formula for killer whitetail arrows ...

1. 9-10gpp mass arrow weight
2. superior flight with yer coc broadhead of choice
3. acquire consistent accuracy under hunting conditions

that's it.  there is nothing else.

the rest of the arrow spex don't matter much, as long as the above is met.

ymmv and good huntin'!   :wavey:

Rob said it ! This will be a short thread ! Only thing I would add is make sure it is surgical sharp.... we owe that to God's magnificent critter known as the, " Whitetail Deer ".

I use a 16" Nicholson mill bastard file and heavy leather for my Chris Surtees' 160gr Snuffers. If I used a 2 blade i would use my KME knife sharpener on them. JMHO

May not be for you but I find this type of set-up is quite forgiving and punishing.

Bow... 51@28(draw actual 28")...shelf 1/8" past center

Option 1
Arrow... Victory HV350(6.7 gpi)...29.5"...3x4" shield cut ...100 gn insert...250gn VPA Terminator...565 gn total...30.1% Ultra EFOC.

Option 2
Arrow... Victory HV400(6.2 gpi)...29.5"...3x4" shield cut ...100 gn insert...200gn VPA Terminator...500 gn total...28.4% EFOC.

Option 3
Arrow... Victory HV350(6.7 gpi)...29.0"...3x4" shield cut...100 gn insert...300 gn Big 3...611 gn total...31.4% Ultra EFOC.
** While Option 3 is 12 gpp, I was still able to score well at 3D’s and this set-up disintegrated a Rhinehart  18 in 1, which is warranted for a year in less than a month.

mine are beman ics hunter shafts in the 300 variety.  I leave them full length because I have a long draw.  I put a 100 gr. brass insert in them and tip them with a 200 gr woodsman elite broadhead.  I crown dip them any color from pink to yellow as long as its bright so I can see the blood on the feathers.  I use 5.5" shield cut feathers for stability purposes.  I probably dont need them but I like them.  Best arrow setup I have found for my 58# tomahawk longbow.

35/55 GT Expedition cut 29" 250-285gr up front (a 125 insert and your choice of Eskimo, MagnusII, Eclipse, Stos etc...).

This was a 51@28 bow, and the above arrow with a Magnus II.

Rob said it all, apply that to any carbon arrow and you're golden.

CX Terminator arrow shaft. 225gr Grizzly broadhead. Shot out of a 51# Rampart RC. My brother has killed a lot of dirt with this set-up.

With your bow, any well tuned arrow will work fine.

I would stay away from the ultra heavy arrows that some advocate, simply because I don't need all that weight.  But those will work also.

Hard to beat a Beman MFX Classic 500, with 100 grain brass insert. 29" long. Weights 525 grains with 125 grain tip. I use this arrow from 47 to 56 lb bows and shoots very well.

The dirt will live, unless you use a 160 grain Snuffer.  Anyone who mentioned another BH never saw a Snuffer hole.  In fact you can't look at another BH and a Snuffer and say, "I'd rather put a hole in an animal with this BH."

Please, remember we ARE talking Whitetails.

A lot will indeed work. I have absolute confidence in my Beman MFX Classics.  I was shooting 4 pounds less than you in draw weight last year on whitetails pllus a "bit" of dirt on the off side.

That arrow:
X-Nock
3, 4" feathers
600 spine
28"
75 Grain Insert
100 Grain Helix single bevel
Weighed (from memory--414 grains)

For your higher draw weight and longer draw I'd be looking at 500 Spine.

I may use 500 spine this season with 100 grain insert + 125 grain Helix. This will boost my arrow weight to nearly 500 grains, still using 47# recurves. I'm not changing for any reason other than change however I do expect a slightly more quiet set-up but frankly, my ears can't tell the difference.

Then again, since it appears I'll not be headed west this year and anything bigger than whitetails, I should simply stick with last year's set-up.

I find Stu's Calculator the perfect gaming tool.

carbon express 250's cut to 29" with a 50 grain brass insert and 175 grain vpa terminator. This setup weighs about 600 grains and will pass through every whitetail you shoot
