5" would be my choice if I were going to use a vane again.

I have had excellent results using Blazers and 3" and up QuickSpins. Blazers are a littler taller than normal and I needed to mount my rest just a touch higher to make sure there was no contact.

I use 4 and 5 inch Martin Archery vanes off an elevated plunger rest.
They shoot quite well.

I use 4-4" vanes off a Bear Weather rest, on my Black Widow. Getting great flight, and quiet too.
