Just heard from my wife she works for WY Game and Fish. I Drew Elk and Antelope. I always hope for the elk so now the best part begins the preseason scouting. This means good excuses to be a horseback in some of the most beutiful wild country in the lower 48.

Well,
For the first time ever, I came up short on elk.       It's a general area or nothing for me this year. Crap.

I have yet to draw a deer tag in wyoming but drew an elk tag to hunt with dad this year again. I will only have a few days late in the season but time in the field with family and friends is still great time.

Ferret it only takes you a "few days" to find one of those big bruisers! haha

Scott, no fair, you've got the inside track! Congrats!

This was my first year applying in Wy. How many pts did you successful guys have?

Snag, the guys that said they drew are residents, so their in a different pool than us aliens.  Some units don't take many points, but the best ones pretty much need max. points to get a tag for a NR.  I hunted 38 last year and if I remember correctly it was about a 50% chance of drawing with max. points.  People with max. points this year had 5, and the total needed for the best units just keeps going up.  You might want to start watching for some of the less popular, although still very good, units.

Randy, with a few days of elk hunting you still will have days to waste!

Well as an alien I missed unit 7 for elk and it looks to be a long wait as I am one less than max (5). I also missed my antelope tag for unit 41 this year. Last year they had 50 tags for that unit and now...ONE tag. Either a yeti came in and ate all the antelope or they had a REALLY bad winter   :banghead:

So, left-over cow elk again and a deer tag in my pocket. Poor me  :)

Good luck everyone that drew! One of these days I will have a chance to hunt a bull there. One of these days...

Oh ya, I'm happy.

Drew everything I put in for, great limited elk tag, cow tag in same area, antelope buck and doe tags, and a very limited doe deer tag. I just need to buy my general buck tag and I'm set.  :bigsmyl:

Congratulations to all that got their tags.

I got my 2 doe tags, buck tag and finally antelope but....

Didn't draw my elk tag for the 5th or 6th year, lost count it's been so long.

I thought I had applied for a lesser unit Whip. Guess my sights where still too high. But with no pts going in I didn't have much hopes anyway. Just trying to build some pts.

Well now it is time to see what tags are left over for this too new resident of Wyoming.  Congrats to all who drew and better luck next year for those who did not, Joe

You've got a year to remember lined up Barney, even without an elk tag.  A sons first hunting season will more than make up for it.
