Chek-Mate
« on: June 27, 2011, 05:17:00 PM »
I hope I am not opening a can of worms here, but what has happened to Chek-Mate Archery?  I know the bowyer bought the business and was moving it and not taking orders in the interim, but they seem to have dropped off the map.  Just curious, I have enjoyed a few of their bows through the years, and my Thunderbird is still my go-to bow.

Let me know if you find out anything.  When I first entered the world of TRAD bows a little over a year ago, I bought a Beaver Creek model from a guy off another website (it was barely 4 months old)) and stupidly got rid of it thinking I would just order a heavier one.  I loved that bow and miss it alot!

From what I understand is that he is not doing any custom orders and doing stock bows and the dealers get what they get...I know of a dealer up here that gets a lot of his bows but they get sold very quickly!!

There have been some threads on this in the past.  Do a search and you'll come up with the info you are looking for.  As I recall, the relocation of the shop took longer than expected and orders are backed way up and they are not taking new orders till they get closer to being caught up.

This is what I was hinting at.  Even Archery by Mail only has stock models, doesn't look like you can order anything.  I wondered how this might effect Cascade archery...

I have no idea what happened.  Last time I talked to Marc, around 8 months ago, he said I had a shipment coming within a week or so.  Since then I haven't been able to contact him by phone or e-mail, and no bows.  I've returned all the deposits that I had.  I worry about him--I don't know of anyone getting bows.  I hope there's an explanation and he gets back on his feet soon--one of the best bows out there IMO, regardless of price.

The do make a fine bow lines... If they do not make any more bows will a bow you have increase in value....

I have a firebird model with 2 sets of limbs 40 at 28 and 50 at 28 inch. The bow is like a BW with the limbs on the inside of the riser. I got the bow and limbs from recures.com Chad a great place to buy from also custom strings I have from him...

HOPE THEY GET BACK ON TRACK. I have a Hunter 2 44@28 and it's a great stick. Well made , a real beauty in my eye, Purpleheart and greybark.

Great bows at any price.

I live a short distance from Marc. He's still making bows. I'll let him know your concerns next time I talk to him. And yes, he makes some of the best out there.
